The town of Schaffhausen is located on the High Rhine, in Switzerland. With its nearly 35000 inhabitants, it is the largest town in the canton of the same name. Although Schaffhausen is renowned mainly because of its proximity to the Rhine Falls, the largest waterfall in Europe, it is also a pleasant destination in itself. The town has a well-preserved medieval centre and features an old circular fortress, called Munot, a cathedral with adjacent cloister and museum, as well as several historical buildings with their traditional facades.
