Just coming back from South Africa, where we spent the last two weeks.
The main reason for going there was to get closer to nature and wildlife, which, as you might expect, is quite rare in my everyday life in Zurich. I normally spend most of my time indoor: on public transport, in the office, in the gym, in the supermarket and at home, just to mention few examples. I like living in the city, but our planet has much more than that to offer. So, I packed my stuff and flew to South Africa.
Why South Africa?
This country hosts one of the most beautiful places on Earth for wildlife observation: the Kruger National Park, an immense game reserve extending to the borders with Zimbabwe and Mozambique. In addition, it offers impressive landscapes and very good wine.
How long?
Two weeks are not enough to visit the country, but can be sufficient to get a feeling of the place and its inhabitants.
Where?
During our stay there, we tried to focus on two areas, one around Cape Town and another around Johannesburg, and to keep a good balance between relax and adventure.
This is, in brief, the itinerary of the trip:
- Day 1: Cape Town
- Day 2: Table Mountain
- Day 3: Cape Peninsula, with stops at Seal Island, Boulders Beach and Cape of Good Hope
- Day 4-5: Franschhoek and the Winelands
- Day 5-6: Cape Town
- Day 7: Johannesburg
- Day 8: Blyde River Canyon
- Day 9-11: Kruger National Park
- Day 12-13: Johannesburg and return home
I will publish my best pics and cover each day more in detail in the next weeks, so stay tuned for updates!
What about you? Did you go to South Africa? Would you go back? Feel free to leave a comment and share your experience!
